Craft Gone Wild

So Pinterest and Stumbler have become my all time addiction. It's amazing how differently I view the world because you actually get to see what everyone else is doing in life and what their interests are and how they are so much like mine.

As I was Stumbler'ing and Pinning everything to my boards I came across a quote, "I love you more today than yesterday, yesterday you really pissed me off." And I just knew that it fit perfectly with my relationship with Chris. Not that he every really pisses me off but we are goofy and I love brash statements and out spoken things. Then I saw these creative wall hangings created from an old canvas painting with stickers and paint and quotes. So I decided to make some. Here is my journey and a TON of suggestions if you decide to create on too.

First stop- get my materials. I was able to find an old canvas painting at Goodwill for $2.99, paint and stickers came from Walmart. First piece of advice- use good stickers, something that I must not have done! I use the stickers from the House Address Numbers/For Sale sign area at Walmart. Slim pickings at my store and I should have seen that as a sign.

The next step was to put the stickers on writing out my quote, well I realized that I didn't have enough letters for my quote so I changed it up a bit and I had to be creative as I didn't have enough "Y"'s. Make sure you press the stickers extremely hard and I even used a can of beans to roll from the back (which you will see did nothing!).

Then once you think the stickers are secure it's painting time!! Use about half as much paint as I did!! Way too much! Also- be extremely careful while painting over the stickers, because as you will see I lost a couple of mine and the paint then painted over the canvas so I had to improvise!

Here is it with the paint spread all over, including the top, bottom and sides. I also did a second coat since the canvas soaked the paint right up.

Once it has dried, remove the stickers and see what you get!! I lost the "L" in the love and the "Y" in yesterday. As I said I didn't have any "Y"s left so I had to scratch some paint off so you could sort of see the "Y." As for the "L" well luckily I had some red stickers!

And there you have my Craft Gone Wild. I still like it as it shouts "Home Made by a Terrible Crafter"!! Ha!! Who knows what will happen to it!! You just may still see it in my house somewhere!!
